Third Grade Salmon Release

Third Graders Release Salmon

Third grade students visited the George Adams Salmon Hatchery to release the Chum salmon fry they hatched and raised at school.  This was the culmination of a science unit that began last Fall with their field trip to Kennedy Creek to see the spawning salmon return to lay their eggs.  They also participated in a salmon dissection and several lessons on habitat, salmon anatomy and life cycle.  Our salmon experts were sad to say goodbye to their fry.  But, they were excited to take part in their release.
