Principal's Message

Good afternoon Mountain View Families and Staff,

Just like that, we find ourselves in the last week of September.  How crazy is that?  We have learned so much about how to “do school” during a pandemic this month.  Regardless of the challenges we are facing, students are learning, school is open and families and staff continue to show patience and flexibility!  We are so lucky to have such a wonderful school community!

We appreciate your help with making sure your children have masks that fit properly.  We are also very pleased with how much smoother the end of the day process is going.  We are averaging 140+ students being picked up with over 90 being walk ups.  We continue to have struggles with bus routes being cancelled due to transportation being short staffed. If your child rides the bus and you are not getting cancellation notice in the morning for your child’s route, please reach out to transportation so you can get on their automated system.

We continue to be hit with COVID symptoms here at school and a few students out who have tested positive.  We have 29 students currently out either in quarantine or monitoring symptoms at home for 72 hours.  We are sending home between 5-12 students each day who are exhibiting symptoms while at school.  Mason County Health Department shared this week that symptoms in children are looking different than those for adults.  These include sniffles, coughs, sore throat, fever and diarrhea.  This can be challenging to determine if your child has allergies or a COVID symptom, but we ask that you keep your child home if they have any of those or other COVID like symptoms.  Students must remain at home until they have been symptom free for 72 hours.  We hope to continue to see the number of active cases in Mason County decrease so we can soon get back to a more “typical” way of living.

Here are some things happening this week at Mountain View:

  • School Board meeting on Tuesday, September 28th beginning at 6:00 pm
  • 2nd PLC day of the year on Wednesday, September 29th.  School dismisses at 2:00 pm

Let’s have a wonderful week at Mountain View!
